Four Point Approach |
|
Belleville Main Street was established in 2002 with the purpose of revitalizing the downtown area. The Belleville Main Street program is a non-profit volunteer based organization. The National Main Street Center was created in 1978 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. There are over 1500 Main Street cities across the United States. Belleville is one of 22 Main Street towns in Kansas. The Kansas Program was started in 1985 and Belleville is a part of that program. The Kansas Main Street program uses a common-sense approach to tackle the complex issues of revitalizing a community’s central business district. Kansas Main Street is a self-help program that uses a four-point approach. Organization, Promotion, Design and Economic Restructuring. Mission Statement The Belleville Main Street Program is a not for profit organization dedicated to uniting our community, capitalizing on our unique talents to revitalize and preserve our downtown area and to enhance the quality of life and overall economic health of our community for future generations. Vision Statement The vision of the Belleville Main Street Program is to create an attractive, entertaining, and safe downtown that is filled to capacity and is the heart of the community. This creation will not only pertain to attracting new businesses, but will also address promoting existing businesses. This progressive downtown will provide a variety of services including dining, retail, art, and other practical uses, in a courteous, friendly, and accommodating environment. The Main Street vision benefits Belleville and Republic County residents, those attending area events and activities, and all patrons of the downtown area. |
